Amazon has become a household staple for many, selling an endless range of goods from groceries to electronics to mattresses. The majority of frequent Amazon shoppers become Amazon Prime members, which gives those shoppers access to unlimited free two-day shipping on most orders. Depending on where you live, your Amazon Prime orders could even show up as early as the same day you place the order. Black Friday marks one of Amazon’s largest shopping sales, besides July’s Amazon Prime Day and October’s Amazon Prime Early Access Sale, with those two shopping events only for Prime members.
The best Black Friday deals are known to sell out, so don’t wait too long to jump on a deal when you see it. This year, Amazon began its official Black Friday sale on Thanksgiving, Nov. 24, and it’s running through today, Nov. 25. If you miss something on your list, you could still save while shopping for the best Cyber Monday deals. Cyber Monday’s official date this year is Nov. 28, but like Black Friday sales, we’re likely to see them blend into a Cyber Weekend sale starting right after Black Friday. The best Cyber Monday Amazon deals are likely to rival the savings offered on Black Friday deals.
Both annual shopping events are popular with consumers. In U.S. News & World Report’s Holiday Shopping Survey 2022, almost two in three respondents (64%) said they were planning to shop on both Black Friday and Cyber Monday this holiday season to get the most bang for their buck.

We expect to see plenty of great deals during Amazon’s Black Friday event. Amazon is known for offering discounts on great holiday buys like Apple products, TVs, tablets, air purifiers, and items from Amazon’s own family of brands.
Amazon’s Black Friday deals are similar to those offered during Amazon Prime Day and Amazon’s Prime Early Access Sale in that the company often marks down its own products. Amazon discounts items like the Fire TV stick for streaming, Fire TVs, Kindle e-readers, and Amazon Echo smart speakers during the biggest sales of the year. We also anticipate sale prices on Amazon Essentials and Amazon Basics items.
Some Amazon Black Friday deals this year include: up to 40% off select Dell and HP laptops, desktops, and monitors; up to 30% off De’Longhi espresso machines; discounts on kitchen products from Cosori, KitchenAid, Ninja, and Vitamix; savings on mattresses from Zinus and Casper; and deals up to 30% off select toys, including Play-Doh, Transformers, and Nerf.
Amazon Black Friday Shipping and Return Policy
Amazon’s Black Friday deals will offer free shipping on some orders. Items labeled with “FREE Shipping” in the details area that are fulfilled and shipped by Amazon and meet the minimum order amount will head to you with no shipping charges. Amazon states these orders are typically delivered in five to eight days after all items in your order are ready to ship. Holiday sales and other high-volume times could impact these speeds. Many retailers and delivery companies are dealing with staffing shortages and supply issues that could impact the time it takes for an item to reach your doorstep. November and December can also bring stormy weather that can slow down shipments.
The easiest way to get free shipping on Amazon orders is to become a Prime member. A one-year membership costs $14.99 per month or $139 per year and offers you free two-day shipping on most orders. College students can access a one-year Prime membership for $69 per year. In some metro areas, Prime members get free same-day delivery and free two-hour delivery with Amazon Fresh, which sells daily essentials and groceries. These free delivery options apply to most orders, with no minimum total required. A Prime membership also grants access to Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service and Amazon Prime Music. Whole Foods also offers exclusive deals for Prime members.
If you’re not ready to commit to a year-long membership, Amazon offers a free 30-day Prime trial to anyone who hasn’t been a Prime member in the last 12 months. This offer will give you access to Amazon’s free two-day shipping for your Black Friday and Cyber Monday purchases. Amazon also offers a free six-month Prime trial for students. Keep in mind with both trials that Amazon collects payment information when you sign up and will automatically start charging the Prime fee unless you cancel it before the trial period ends.
This year, Amazon again changed its return policy for the holiday sales period. Throughout most of the year, Amazon’s return policy states that most items are eligible for a return within 30 days of delivery. But similar to last year's holiday return policy, Amazon now will accept returns for purchases made between Oct. 11 and Dec. 25 until Jan. 31, 2023. This applies to most items and orders, but not all. Before you buy, it’s worth reading the smaller print that details the return policy. Some third-party vendors that sell through Amazon don’t offer any type of return policy.
