Black Friday falls on Nov. 24 this year, which is months away, but it’s never too early to start planning for your holiday shopping. When it comes to the busiest shopping day of the year, you’d be hard-pressed to find a store with better deals than Walmart. The retail giant is known for having some of the best Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals out there.
In recent years, Walmart has spread out its Black Friday deals over a few weeks in an effort to attract more customers. Last year, the retailer started releasing deals almost three weeks prior to Black Friday. We’re expecting to see a similar rollout of Black Friday deals this year, especially since Walmart wasn’t the only retailer offering early deals. Target’s Black Friday sales started in early October and Best Buy’s Black Friday deals started rolling out around the same time.
Here’s what to expect from Walmart’s Black Friday deals in 2023 based on the retailer's sales during last year’s holiday season.
What You Need To Know About Walmart Black Friday Deals
Last year, Walmart held its third annual month-long savings event, which it dubbed “Black Friday Deals for Days.” Rather than a traditional one-day sale, Walmart held three separate sales events that began the first week of November and concluded on Black Friday. The three rounds of deals began on walmart.com and two to four days later were available in Walmart stores. Walmart+ members were granted early access and could shop deals seven hours before the general public.
Each sales event offered savings on big-name electronics, video games, toys, apparel, home goods, and kitchen appliances. Shoppers could access these deals online and then in-store two to four days later.
Given the success of Walmart’s Black Friday Deals for Days, we expect the retailer to hold a similar event this year and, like last year, officially drop all the details in early October.
Deals To Expect
With Walmart’s vast inventory, you can expect to find a deal on just about anything on Black Friday.
In the lead-up to Black Friday last year, Apple AirPods, air fryers, and video games were the must-have items in shoppers’ carts, along with Nintendo Switch consoles, Instapot products, and toys from Squishmallows, Paw Patrol, and L.O.L. Surprise Dolls. On Black Friday itself, Xbox Series X, Apple Macbooks, smart TVs, and Bluey toys were the top sellers.
Top sellers during the holiday shopping season can indicate buyer priorities in the coming year, so we expect to see deals on some of the same products for Walmart's Black Friday 2023 sales. Here’s what we’re keeping an eye out for this year:
Electronics
Since TVs are one of the biggest Black Friday sellers, expect to see some attractive deals on TVs from Samsung, LG, and other brands. Similar big-name TVs were discounted by almost 60% last year at Walmart, including the Sony Bravia X90J, which is tied at No. 5 in our Best TVs and Best Smart TVs ratings.
You can also anticipate deals on Apple products. Shoppers saved big on past generations of AirPods, Apple Watches, and iPads last year. Other big computer brands also featured discounts on their laptops and tablets, including HP, Acer, and Asus.
We’re also expecting to see deals on Nintendo Switch models, virtual reality sets, and Playstation and Xbox gaming consoles, along with popular video games like FIFA, Madden, and Call of Duty.
Walmart’s last Black Friday sales didn’t offer discounts on Playstation or Xbox gaming consoles, but the retailer widely advertised them as in stock – the closest thing to a deal considering the shortage all year. Other consoles like the Nintendo Switch and Meta Quest VR sets were bundled with video games for savings, and stand-alone video games and controllers were discounted up to 50%.

Toys
The hottest toys last year included Paw Patrol, Bluey, and Squishmallows products, all of which you can expect to see similarly discounted this year at Walmart. The retailer stocks just about every toy a child could want, so you’ll find Black Friday toy deals for all ages.
Other toys you may reliably see big discounts on this Black Friday include Lego sets, Barbie toys, Hot Wheels, and Play-Doh. You can also expect to see Marvel products and board games on sale.
Home Goods
Black Friday sales are ideal if you’re looking to replace or upgrade items around your home. You’ll be able to find deals on appliances for every room of your home during Walmart’s Black Friday sales.
Last year, vacuums from Dyson and Shark were on sale for hundreds of dollars off select models, and air purifiers were over 60% off, including models from Winix, Levoit, and Dyson. You can also expect savings on air fryers, blenders, and other kitchen gear from top brands like Ninja, Gourmia, and Vitamix.

Walmart Black Friday Shipping and Return Policies
Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to holiday shopping. Whether you prefer to shop in-store, use Walmart curbside pickup, or take advantage of the retailer’s Express delivery, getting the items you need has never been easier. If you’re an online shopper, make sure to check out our Walmart coupon page and know how to get free shipping at Walmart before you shop.
Walmart offers free shipping on most orders of $35 or more, and many items ship for free within two days. Same-day delivery is also available.
Walmart's Express delivery service allows you to do your holiday shopping online and have all of your packages delivered to your doorstep within two hours. Express delivery costs $10 per order plus the standard delivery fee of $7.95 or $9.95. However, Walmart+ members only pay the $10 Express delivery fee, as standard shipping is included in their membership.
When buying gifts, it’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with the store’s return policy. Normally, customers have 30 days to return electronics and 90 days to return almost everything else. In previous years, however, Walmart has expanded its holiday return policy, and we expect to see this again in 2023. Last year, most purchases, including electronics and Walmart Marketplace items, made on or after Oct. 1 could be returned through Jan. 31, 2023. Returns could be made in-store, curbside, or via mail. For select stores, Walmart+ members could have returns picked up from their doorstep.
As with any retailer, there are a few things you’ll want to consider when shopping online. Check that you’ll be able to score free shipping when shopping by meeting any required order cost minimum. You’ll also want to make sure you’re getting the item you want at a fair price. It’s not uncommon for third-party sellers to raise the price on popular items around the holidays.
And, finally, keep in mind that items on back order may not be delivered in time for the holidays. In that case, you may want to shop around to ensure you get everything you need in time.
