The Blink brand is owned by Amazon after the retailer purchased the company in 2019. They positioned Blink as the go-to home security line for the more budget-conscious buyer. And its basic video doorbell, marked down from $49.99 to $34.99, is a great price for an entry-level model. It can be installed with or without your existing doorbell wires. It can stream 1080p HD video wirelessly over WiFi to a smartphone or mobile device. The doorbell will send app alerts when the doorbell is pressed or motion is detected. If you pair it with an optional Sync Module 2, you can enable two-way audio for speaking to someone at the door remotely.
It’s also compatible with other Blink and Amazon devices, such as the Amazon Echo Show, which connects to the video stream for viewing on its display. You can also control and access it with Amazon Alexa for voice control. It also features night vision and runs on battery power that lasts up to two years. Without the optional module, you can’t view a live stream, store recordings locally, or use two-way audio, but for the low price, this is ideal for someone who isn’t looking for anything past basic features.
